love is in the air!

love is in the air!

Hi!

This is my first blog for a while, as I've been really busy with my photography and getting new designs ready for my stores.

Valentines Day is upon us which is great - I always think of it as kind of an unofficial marker that winter is finally coming to an end. I love frosty winter morning walks with the family and it can be great for photography but after 3 months of the cold and dark I'm ready for some light and colour!

In the UK Valentines Day is aimed at loved up couples but I've learned over the last couple of years just how big it is in the US and that it has a much broader appeal with people using it to send love to friends and family. I love this idea and hope it catches on in the UK.

Its also a popular time of year for engagements and wedding announcements. I've been working on a new range of cards and stationery which can be personalised to send to friends and family, as its such an important event I feel the addition of a beautiful design along with a photograph of the couple really makes an emotional impact . These have proved to be really popular on my zazzle store and are selling well.

My thoughts are now turning to Spring - new birth and new growth in nature and I will be looking at designs for Easter, birth announcements and graduation amongst other events.

I'm adding new designs to my zazzle store all the time so please check it out and follow me on twitter for regular updates,

bye

Christmas cards, wrap and art by Stacy Cooke Designs

Christmas cards, wrap and art by Stacy Cooke Designs

a bit early isn't it?' I hear you shout, not really - less than 50 sleeps to go!

I love this time of year - the beautiful autumn colours and chilly mornings. Now that Halloween is out of the way all roads lead to Christmas!

All designers of Seasonal goods will know - we are all planning at least 3 months ahead. So during summer I was working on my designs for Christmas goods - artwork, giftwrap, greetings cards. Its great to see these designs finally become products and its a very proud moment when orders start to come in. So far I have had orders from the UK and also several parts of the US and its always a thrill for me to think of my designs being shared between friends and family - I love the idea that my design has brightened up someones day.

My designs provide a template for you to add your own photographs making Christmas cards personal and extra special.

if you visit my store on minted you can also see the coordinating stationery - backer, stamp, envelope, wrap.

I am adding to my zazlle site all the time and this is a great site that allows you to combine your own creative talents with my designs.

how are your festive preparations coming along?

whats the most exciting part of the build up?

Beautiful Bologna

Beautiful Bologna

This summer we visited the beautiful Emilia Romagna region of Italy, we have always wanted to visit this part of Italy and have been fascinated by the history of Bologna and Venice. We flew in to Bologna and spent a week in a beautiful villa in a small village of Stanco di Sopra situated in the hills about 40minutes from the city. This was the perfect base to explore the beautiful countryside and rich history of the region which is a photographers dream. Our villa was one of a collection of stone buildings on a development called 6stanco - the main house on site dates back to the 1600s. Our host Ruth, who lives in the main house, was absolutely fantastic and her warm welcome really set the tone for a fantastic holiday. We met great families who were staying in the adjacent buildings and our daughters made great friends, playing in the pool long into the evening.

I would highly recommend our accommodation, for more information - www.6stanco.it

Our visit to Venice was a highlight and I would love to go back one day, its just so unique, I'd love to see it in winter. The gondola ride lived up to expectation as did the beautiful architecture - theres just so much to see and do.

All in all it was a great relaxing holiday full of good company, excellent food and memories which will last forever!

Summer 2016!

Summer 2016!

Its been a busy summer! heres a recap on what I've been up to through July and August.

July is a great time of year, summer is fully in bloom and thoughts turn to days out and long warm evenings. I also had to juggle these thoughts with finalising designs for my Christmas card and wrap products that are available on www.Minted.com

I must admit it felt a little unusual to be sat in the sun with a cold glass of wine whilst sketching ideas for Christmas prints but its essential that all my work is finished off now so it can be ready for ordering and delivery in December.

The end of July saw the start of the school holidays, I have fond memories from my own childhood of the long summer holidays - sunny and carefree. I kept my 3 daughters busy with arts and crafts and trips to the swimming pool and it was great to relax from the usual routine.

And then before I knew it, the August bank holiday was here and school was imminent! Back to routines, after school clubs, homework etc but its not all bad - Autumn is just around the corner and for someone who loves being outdoors taking photographs Autumn is just the best!

a wedding in the lake district

a wedding in the lake district

On the last weekend in May we set off to one of the most beautiful parts of the UK - the Lake District.

We attended the wedding of one of my best friends with the ceremony taking place on the banks of the wonderful Ullswater Lake. We were blessed with fabulous company, great weather and a fantastic time was had by all. I had been involved in designing and printing paperwork for the wedding - invitations, table details, labels for the candy stall and it was wonderful to see it all come together on the day.

We took the opportunity to spend another 2 days in the area staying in a wonderful barn on a farm and enjoying walks in the hills and a trip on the Ullswater Steamer boat. This area of the UK has always inspired artists and writers and it easy to see why, I couldn't stop taking photographs! I have started editing some of the pieces and am gradually adding them to my minted site.

Also my fabric designs are now available on my minted store, please have a browse and get in touch with any questions, I'd love to hear your comments about my work and your own experiences.

A day at the beach

A day at the beach

The school holidays have come to an end and its been a busy 2 weeks!

Playdates, baking, swimming and finally our first trip to the beach this year.

We have great memories of family days out at the beach and no matter what the weather brings theres always plenty to do. I love exploring the dunes and capturing the dramatic movement of the long grasses. We paddled and searched for shells before tucking in to some fish and chips. (well it is a seaside law surely)

would love to hear about your favourite family days out. what are the best days out for photo opportunities?

So as well as all this I've still been working as much as possible and as well as updating my twitter and minted pages I have singed up with twenty-20 which is another way for independent artists to sell photography.
